( Volunteer Development Programme ) –

The Volunteer Development Program is a
training program which focuses on life
skill development of youth that results
in productive, caring, and capable citizens
for betterment of society. The main objectives
of the VDP are to provide formal and non-formal
practical learning, develop skills that
benefit youth through out life, foster
leadership and volunteerism in youth and
adults. This will give the volunteers
a little idea about their roles and responsibility
towards themselves and well as in a broader
spectrum, with the society.
A volunteer welcomed all the participants
and given a brief introduction of United
Way of Baroda and the sessions planned
for the whole day.
The program was held on 5th September,
2010 at Gujarat Nature Conservation
Society (GNCS), Sindhrot.

On
this note of “Advocating Volunteerism”,
UWB organised an exposure visit on 26th
March 2011 for enhancing and developing
the skills of the volunteers. This year,
there were around 60 volunteers accompanied
by the UWB staff. The whole team gathered
at Dev Krupa Ashram in the morning where
the volunteers were divided into three
groups, each headed by a leader. |

Preparing Roads |

Cleaning
up of a Banana Farm |
| |
Moving harvested and
dried crops to another place. |
|
| |
| The
various sessions organised on that day mainly
concentrated on the following aspects :

Developing a volunteering attitude among
today’s youth. |
| |
Creating
an outlook of philanthropy among the youth. |
| |
Sharpening their caring
and sharing attitude. |
