Training Programme on February 2, 2007
Unique experience for all who attended a Training Programme on “Individualized Programme Planning for Person with Disability” on Wednesday, January 31, 2007 at Hotel Revival, Near Sayaji Garden, Sayajigunj Vadodara – 390 005 organized by United Way of Baroda.

Ms. Neeta Das (LCSW), New Jersey, USA; an expert in the field of Disability conducted the Training Programme. Grass root level workers, executive level NGO representatives, parents, academicians and people with disabilities participated with great interest. An interpreter for hearing impaired participants not only facilitated learning for H.I. group but even sensitized the audience.

 
 
Training Programme on February 6, 2007

On Friday, February 02, 2007 at Hotel Revival, Near Sayaji Garden, Sayajigunj, Vadodara – 390 005, organized Training Programme on "Strategic Planning for Success”.

Mr. V. N. Srinivasan, Vice President – Marketing, Shri Dinesh Mills Ltd., set the tone for the full day workshop with his address on “Positive Attitude at Workplace” and Ms. Neeta Das, LCSW, New Jersey, USA, covered to “Strategic Planning for Success” and “Planning for Action.” with interesting group exercises and presentations.

 

UWB had organized an introductory programme on “Right to Information Act, 2005” soon after its proposed date of implementation with well known advocate Mr. Sumant Avadhoot. This follow up workshop provided deep insight in to its conceptual frame work to real time exercise of preparing application asking for information. This Training Programme organized on Tuesday, February 06, 2007 by United Way of Baroda was, supported and sponsored by Commonwealth Human Rights Initiative (CHRI).

MS. Navaz Kotwal, Programme Coordinator and Ms. Sonal Thacker, Programme Assistant, Access to Justice, CHRI, Vadodara were the key speakers gave Introduction to the objectives for this programme.

 

United Way of Baroda has been organizing Inter School Essay Competition to create awareness towards social issues & thus prepare socially responsible next generation. It was really overwhelming to see the enthusiasm of the Schools and students participating for the competition. This year we had more than 2000 students participating from 86 Gujarati Medium Schools, 24 English Medium Schools and 2 Hindi Medium Schools. We had five students from Special Category too. Our aim is to have even greater number of students to participate in coming years.

All young minds exercised their intelligence and talents responding to subjects such as:

JUNIOR CATEGORY  5th to 7th Standards

SENIOR CATEGORY 8th & 9th Standards

 Importance of art and music in my life.

 How can I help preserve the glory of Heritage Monuments of my city?

How can I brighten up the day of my grandparents?

 Is the government right in sealing/demolishing unauthorized construction?

Going global with internet – The two best websites I visited.

 The most serious social element/issue in my mind & how do I combat it.

A peep in to the life of a rag picker/hotel boy.

Relevance of consumer education & awareness.

I dream of going to school like other children…inclusive education (A child with disabilities).

Deforestation a burning issue: How can I participate in preserving it?

Mr. Jal Patel, Board Member, UWB and Mr. Rakesh Agrawal - Chairperson, Public Education Committee, UWB, handed over Rotating Shields for Junior Category to New Era Senior Secondary School, Nizampura and Ambe Vidyalaya, Sama – Savli Road for English Medium for Senior Category. Navjeevan High School Pologround for Gujarati Medium bagged the UWB Rotting Shield for the Senior Category and Alembic Vidyalaya, Gorwa, Gujarati Medium for Junior Category.

The judges for the Inter School Essay Competition were Dr. Prabha Mehta for English Medium Schools & Special Category, Dr. Sudha Pandya for Gujarati Medium Schools and Dr. Sushama Mehr Ashraf for Gujarati & Hindi Medium Schools.

Ms. Avi Sabavala, Vice-Chairperson, Public Education Committee, UWB delivered vote of thanks.

 

United Way of Baroda is organizing a Training Programme on “Designing Newsletter/Publications/Annual Reports & Website utilizing Social Marketing Principles.” The schedule of the Training Programme is as follow:

United Way of Baroda had coordinated with more than 30 voluntary organizations for participating in the huge rally to mark Vadodara Day. Our affiliates from all the sectors who had contributed towards the growth and development of the city participated with a great enthusiasm.

Vadodara city covered with colourful balloons and the people of the city in the spirit of celebration of their beloved cultural city.
