United Way is a national network of more than 1,300 locally governed organizations that work to create lasting positive changes in communities and people’s lives. Building on more than a century of service as the nation’s preeminent community-based fundraiser, United Way engages the community to identify the underlying causes of the most significant local issues, develops strategies and pulls together financial and human resources to address them, and measures the results. United Way of America is the national organization dedicated to leading the United Way movement. While local United Ways tackle issues based on local needs, common focus areas include helping children and youth succeed, improving access to health care, promoting self-sufficiency, and strengthening families.

Global Movement With A Track Record Of More Than 125 Years

Its Mission Is “Helping Build Community Capacity For A Better Quality Of Life

Worldwide Through Voluntary Giving And Action”

Presence In 46 Countries Spread Over Six Continents

United way comes to Baroda.....

1986 : Baroda becomes the first city in India where the United Way is established. For the first five years, the Baroda Citizens Council, United Way International and UNICEF participate in offering direction to growth and help us establish our roots.

We remember a unique Philanthropist .....

End of an Era of dedicated and loving service to Baroda and its citizens came with passing of UWB’s guiding light Shree Indubhai Patel. He possessed a rare gift of creating and sustaining Institutions and visible results are Shram Mandir Trust, Narhari Hospital, Gujarat Nature Conservation Society, Federation Samaj Kalyan Trust and United Way of Baroda. We lost our legend on June 25 2005. He had prepared and handed over torch to next generation with his farsightedness. Now our aim is to make him proud by walking on the path he has shown us.

And begins to make an impact.......

  • Enrolling local NGOs, already working in health and human care areas, as affiliates and likely beneficiaries. Mobilized funds are allocated to NGOs as per their needs. NGOs are also offered capacity building inputs to strengthen their core abilities.

  • Mobilizing Resources through various fund-raising programmes.

  • Mobilizing individual Volunteers, especially in the city's corporate sector, who offer their time, technical expertise, management skills and goodwill.

In the very popular Navratri Garba Festival, organised every year since 1988. This is the most visible  face of the United Way seen over the nine Garba nights by thousands of Barodians.

Or in the staging of quality plays and other forms of cultural activity.

Or in the United Way Mela, an unique weekend fair organised in the heart of the city that introduces citizens to the various affiliates NGOs working towards their betterment.

...quietly, among the helpless and the needy...

With whom United Way works all through the year, each day. But where the faceis that of the 150 NGOs it supports

And always ready with innovative services.....

Such as the 2-Way Benefit Card and Gold Card (for Senior Citizens) that offer a variety of services, at your doorstep, essential in today's fastpaced living, but often dificult or expensive for the ordinary citizen. United Way also regularly brings out useful publications for NGOs informing  them about important legal and social-economic issues that have a direct bearing on their working.

United Way touches the life of many Barodians, everyday.....

Health & Human care, Women Empowerment /Disability,Environment Civic Issues & Citywide Projects are the broad programme areas that United Way supports through allocation of funds.

And of every NGO too!

In addition to fund allocation, United Way ahelps NGOs in many different ways, training in different aspects of NGOs management providing essential office and technical equipment. And free consultancy and advice, on various governance aspects of managing an NGO with complete focus on the beneficiary.
